J. W. Meyer grew up in rural Wisconsin. He always had a fanciful imagination and dreamt about going on wild adventures to discover amazing places. As a teenager, J. W. Meyer got hooked on reading fantasy novels and his library began to multiply. J. W. Meyer’s interest in writing developed with the help of an amazing literature and writing teacher who offered priceless lessons that were filled with lasting memories for those who could get past the façade of his gruff demeanor.
After working a few years and living in Florida, boredom struck and that nagging urge for adventure came on stronger than ever. At the age of twenty-three, J. W. Meyer joined the U. S. army to become an airborne infantry soldier. After a year and a half, he earned the prestigious Airborne Ranger certification. As a paratrooper he engaged in combat deployments where he fought in Iraq and Afghanistan. Sergeant Meyer was honorably discharged from active service after fulfilling his military contract.
In 2005, J. W. Meyer married his longtime girlfriend and moved back to Wisconsin. He got a job, bought a house, and started living the American dream. J. W. Meyer found himself toiling in a repetitive job that was dull and required little thought. Fortunately, the mundane routine became the fuel that drove him to write his first manuscript. He snuck one sentence at a time onto the backs of his daily worksheets and over the years his fantasy series developed into a mystical world that was devoid of daily boredom.
In the passing years he and his wife welcomed a son and a daughter into their family. J. W. Meyer was able to leave the dismal confines of the factory and started working in leadership and personal development. Things were better, but the fantasy story never left the back of his mind. After twelve years, the family decided to pack up everything and move to his wife’s home country of Latvia.
Upon moving to Latvia, J. W. Meyer began a serious pursuit into establishing a writing career. To gain actual experience and learn the publishing process, he wrote and published his first book, Simple Survival, an emergency preparedness field manual for every day survival. Once that was completed, he started to rework the original manuscript for his fantasy series. During this time, J.W. Meyer and his daughter also published a delightful game book, Tangled Tongue Twister Fun.
J. W. Meyer enjoys outdoor activities, wilderness adventure, and world travel. Experiencing the values of nature, history, and culture are some of his favorite passions. He resides in Europe with his loving wife and two amazing children.
Apprentice Gone is the first book in his epic fantasy series. After the 2023 release, your Rampant Dawn adventure will continue with the many books that will follow it.
